Upcycled plastic and sisal basket

Due to the plastic bag ban in Kenya our weavers have resulted to re-purposing plastic bags strips and using sisal fibre to weave these colourful and vibrant basket bags. They sisal fibre is the skeleton of the upcycled plastic weave which makes the basket more robust and durable. This bags are life’s companion…whether for shopping, picnic,beach or organisation around the house. We love taking care of the environment while taking care of you.

Lovely to see our collection of bespoke handwoven lampshades in their new London home. From a remote rural village in Kenya to a beautiful interior. Each strand is woven with passion & love. Our client requested a bespoke mix of  Colours, Texture & Pattern to represent ‘happiness’ 😊

In Kenya sisal basket weaving ‘Kiondo’ has been a tradition handed down from mother to daughter for generations. It is customary for a Mother to gift a basket to their daughter on their wedding day. A new bride would then have a basket to go to the ‘Shamba’ (farm) or market to collect food for her new family.

OUR BASKETS

Our handwoven baskets comes in different styles, pattern, colours, sizes and shapes. It takes 3 to 7 days to weave a baskets depending on the size and style. Basket weaving has been a tradition passed down from mother to daughter for generations.

Purchasing one of these baskets empowers our women, feeds a child and supports the ancient craft tradition.
